Our love affair
with sailing dates back to the
1960’s. When founder David Stare
lived in Boston, MA, sailing was his
lifeblood (before wine took over).
So naturally, once he began making
wine in California, a sailboat was
an obvious choice for the label.
Beginning with our long-time
sponsorship of the tall ship, The
Californian, and maritime
preservation activities in
California, we have been expanding our sailing interests.

launch of our America’s Cup Reserve
Series during the 2000 America’s Cup in
Auckland, New Zealand, was the start of
a new wave of sailing activities that
continues today with US SAILING.
