Dear Friend of Dry Creek Vineyard,
Ah, spring. Is there any better time to be in wine country? You’d be hard-pressed to find more beautiful weather days than this time of year. The rolling hillsides are emerald green from the winter rains. Flowers of a thousand different varieties are all in bloom. And then there’s that unmistakable smell of spring – the freshest of scents combining into a bouquet that has you dreaming of lazy days and a nice cold glass of Chenin Blanc.
Gorgeous weather aside, another exciting aspect this time of year is bud break. New growth abounds in our vineyards as young buds have finally burst. Frost concerns should be a distant memory by now, unless some freaky weather moves in (let’s hope that doesn’t happen!). Our vineyard crews are hard at work turning over the top layer of soil and mowing the winter cover crop in anticipation of summer. This vineyard prep readies the vines for their summertime growth spurt all in anticipation of another harvest season.
Whatever your spring or summer plans are, we hope they will include a visit to our family winery. Reserve a picnic table, schedule a private tasting or simply stop by for a taste. We stand ready to make your wine country experience a memorable one!
Cheers!
The Dry Creek Vineyard family

2011 DRY CHENIN BLANC WINS TOP OYSTER WINE! |
|
| |
|
|
| |
We’ve done it again! After three stages of judging in Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles, our 2011 Chenin Blanc has been recognized as one of the Top 10 Oyster Wines in the country!
More than 100 wines from Washington, Oregon and California were entered. At each competition the wines were judged blind, paired with a fresh Kumamoto oyster. Judges were asked to chew the oyster well, smell and taste the wine and then look for a clean, crisp finish that doesn't get in the way of the next oyster. Affectionately referred to as the “bliss factor”, wines were then judged based on that magical experience between oyster and wine.
If you are a fresh oyster fan, do yourself a favor and try our Chenin Blanc. It truly is a blissful experience!
