Bud break! To borrow a phrase, the vines
"are alive with the sound of music!" Excuse
the pun, but this time of year is simply
fantastic in the Dry Creek Valley. The
temperatures are warm. The air is crisp.
And every flower, tree, and vineyard are in
full bloom. We invite you to take advantage
of the incredible weather and join us on our
picnic grounds, open 7 days a week.
Purchase a bottle of wine from our tasting
room and our staff will provide picnic wine
glasses, perfect for a delicious wine
country lunch. The Dry Creek General Store
across the street from our winery offers a
wonderful selection of sandwiches, local
breads, and cheeses.

New Vineyard Update |
|
|
|
|
With
the arrival of Spring, we have
finally begun the planting process
in our vineyard bordering Dry Creek
and Lambert Bridge Rd. As Kim
Stare Wallace describes in her
recent blog on
Wilma's Wine World,
the winery is fanatical about its
Zinfandel. "As avid Zinfandel
lovers, we're creating an
experimental Zinfandel block using
four different clonal selections.
This vineyard will be head pruned
with no trellis system, much like
the historic Zinfandel vines planted
in the days of horse and plow."
The
St. George rootstock is now in the
ground and soon (probably this fall)
we will begin the grafting process
for the four different clonal
selections. We invite you to swing by
the winery to have a look. It's an
impressive sight! |

Mother's Day Brunch Recipe |
|
|
|
|
Scrambled
Eggs with Smoked Salmon |
|
|
|
Ingredients: |
| |
1/4 pound sliced smoked
salmon
12 eggs
1/2 cup heavy cream
Salt and freshly ground
black pepper
2 tablespoons butter
12 to 15 blades of fresh
chives, finely chopped
|
|
|
 |
|
|
Directions:
Reserve 2 slices of salmon for garnish. Chop
the remaining salmon into very small pieces.
Whisk your eggs and cream together. Add 1/2
of your chopped chives and season eggs with
salt and pepper. Preheat a large nonstick
skillet over medium heat. Melt butter in the
pan and add eggs. Scramble eggs with a
wooden spoon. Do not cook eggs until dry.
When eggs have come together but remain wet,
stir in chopped salmon. Remove pan from the
stove and keep warm. Garnish the eggs with
remaining salmon and chives and serve right
out of the warm pan, along with our 2007
Chenin Blanc (from the Spring Whites
Collection above).
