Dear
Friend: |
|
| |
|
FINALLY, summer is here. After what will
surely go down as one of our wettest
springs on record – the month of May saw 16
of 31 days with measurable precipitation –
the sun is finally shining and our picnic
grounds are officially ready for your
enjoyment. Now is a terrific time to grab
your closest friends, family members,
colleagues and whomever else you can wrestle
up and bring them to our beautiful corner of
wine country. Our recently released 2009
“Petite Zin” Rose of Zinfandel is the
perfect picnic wine. You can even call
ahead to reserve your very own picnic
table.
This issue of
Friends focuses on our premier summer event
featuring perhaps the best Beatles tribute
band going - The Sun Kings. Tickets are
selling quickly so be sure to place your
order as we are expecting a sellout. And
don’t miss out on those new vintages (2009)
of Chenin, Fume and Sauvignon Blanc. Simply
delicious! |

2006 Mariner Scores a Big Award |
 |
|
|
|
Recently, we were honored to
learn that our latest
vintage of
Mariner was selected as
the
“Best Bordeaux Blend” at the
Critics Challenge
International Wine
Competition. This is a
particularly outstanding
achievement considering the
level of judges – a veritable
who's who in the wine world
including Leslie Sbrocco,
Gerald Boyd, Michael Apstein
and many more luminaries.
Michael Franz, editor of
Wine Review Online had this
to say about the Mariner: |
|
 |
|
|
|
|
|
“This
very strong
Bordeaux-style blend
shows a lot of
firmness from oak in
the finish, but also
impressive depth of
fruit that keeps the
balance appealing.
The tannins are
fine-grained and
well weighted to the
sweet, deeply
flavored fruit,
making this
enjoyable now but
also quite promising
in terms of
potential for future
development.
Tasting blind, I
awarded this a
platinum medal at
the Critics
Challenge
International Wine
Competition.”
92
points. |
