January 2007

Winter’s cold has officially arrived here in wine country. Late December brought us several mornings of sub-freezing temperatures, which has put the vines to sleep for the winter. Our vineyard team continues to trim and cultivate the vines in preparation for winter and, eventually, spring budbreak. The wines from the 2006 vintage are now resting comfortably in barrels (for those that see oak) and, in fact, our 2006 Chenin Blanc, is already available for tasting! With the tourist season over, now is a terrific time to visit our tasting room to try some of our new releases!

Please read on for more.  If you wish to not receive future emails from us you may unsubscribe at the bottom of this email (although, we sincerely hope that’s not the case!).

This year marks our 35th anniversary as a family-owned and operated winery in the Dry Creek Valley. Our entire family is proud of our heritage and history in the valley and we look forward to many more successful years to come.

Throughout 2007, look for special tastings and parties representing different aspects of our history as we celebrate 35 years of fine wine!

On January 2, 2007, we released the highly anticipated 2004 Old Vine Zinfandel. The 2003 vintage enjoyed much critical acclaim, including 93 points and #17 in Wine Enthusiast Magazine’s Top 100 Wines of 2006.

According to winemaker Bill Knuttel, the 2004 vintage may even be a bit better than 2003. "This is a very elegant Zinfandel," says Bill. "It has expressive blackberry fruit flavors with excellent depth, balance, and concentration. I’m very happy with how this wine turned out."  This wine pairs beautifully with our Featured Recipe, "Wild Mushroom Bisque."

With only 4,000 cases produced, this exclusive wine will not last long. To order, Click on the Shop for Dry Creek Wines link at the top or call the winery at 800-864-9463.
