As our family settles into another holiday
season, we’re reflective and thankful for
the many blessings of this year. Granted,
it’s been challenging as our economy has
struggled through difficult times. However,
we’re confident this down cycle will
eventually turn around and our country will
get back on track.
If you’re in
the shopping mood, we’ve got a terrific
lineup of holiday gift ideas. In fact, a
membership to our Vintner’s Select Wine Club
makes an excellent gift. With four
quarterly shipments of two bottles, it’s the
gift that keeps on giving! Also, in this
issue we wrap up 2008, look to 2009, and
offer a delectable recipe that is completely
fat free…well, it’s not exactly fat free but
it’s so good you simply have to try it out!
From all of us
at Dry Creek Vineyard, we wish you a
joyous holiday season and a prosperous New
Year. |

2008 Year in Review |
|
|
|
|
Wow,
what a year!
Much
of the first part of 2008 was spent sharing the story of “Fumé” with as
many people who would listen. We called it our What is Fumé? campaign.
We even went so far as to create a web site –
www.whatisfume.com.
In
addition, we had lots of great Fumé gear for sale and even had a feature
story in the Chicago Tribune about our fight to save Fumé Blanc from
becoming obsolete.
Among
summertime highlights, we received numerous 90+ point scores from the
Wine Enthusiast, landed several feature stories in nationally syndicated
publications, held a plethora of fun events at the winery and overall
had a great time sharing our story, pouring our wines, and generally
enjoying life in wine country.
This past fall,
our 2007 Fumé Blanc received the Sweepstakes Award at the Sonoma
County Harvest Fair. This was no small feat. Voted the #1 white wine
in all of Sonoma County, this was quite an honor and one we’re still
reveling in. Harvest 2008 came and went in a blur. And last weekend,
we held our annual Holiday Open House Celebration. |

Wilma's Parmesan Apple Pie Recipe |
|
|
|
|
Kim Stare Wallace has
graciously agreed to share a family secret. As reported from a recent
issue of her blog,
Wilma’s Wine World, Kim said about her pie, “Well
it’s not exactly world famous, but in
our household, it’s an annual tradition and a dish that passes the Food
Meister’s (my husband) inspection. I’ve been making this pie for over 25
years and it is one of my favorite dishes to serve during the holidays.”
Trust us and take her word for it. The recipe is easy and the pie
is incredible. |
