Another harvest season is knocking at our
door. A recent run of warm days and cool
nights (typical for this time of year) has
caused several vineyards to start veraison –
the changing of color of the grapes.
Essentially, veraison signifies the change
from berry growth to berry ripening.
Initial reports are that yields are looking
average to below average, but it is still
too early to tell. More on that later.

We’ve got a terrific event over Labor Day
weekend to help wrap-up another fun summer
of activities at the winery. Plus, we’re
offering a stellar deal on an end-of-summer wine for parents with more than a
few “back to school” frayed nerves. All in
all, it’s been a great summer here in the Dry
Creek Valley. And, because this is wine
country, the great weather and good times
don’t end after Labor Day. Join us during
harvest to experience “crush” first hand.
It’s a terrific time to be in wine country! |

If you’ve
happened to log onto our winery blog,
Wilma’s Wine World, (www.wilmaswineworld.com)
you’ve probably learned more about winery
owner, Kim Wallace, than even we knew. From
highlights such as teaching the new family
puppy not to poop on mommy’s expensive rug
to recalling a recent lunch with famed wine
critic, Jim Laube of the Wine Spectator, Kim
has taken to blogging like a duck to water.
Although even she admits that, “I am the
least likely person to engage in this form
of high tech gibberish.”
We invite you

Join Us in the Fight Against MS |
|
|
|
|
The statistics are staggering: Approximately 400,000
Americans have Multiple Sclerosis. Every week
about 200 people are diagnosed with MS. Worldwide,
MS affects about 2.5 million people. In 2004, the
Dry Creek Vineyard family was rocked with the news
that one of its own family members had MS. No
family is safe. We’re on a mission to help find a
cure to this debilitating disease.
|
|
Beginning August 15, 2008, for one month we will donate $1 to the
MS Society for every bottle of 2006 Fumé Blanc sold
in our tasting room or online.
This will last through September 14, 2008, so if you
have ever contemplated purchasing some of our
award–winning Fumé, now is the time!
Then, on September 13 and 14, more than 1,500
cyclists from all walks of life and ability levels,
will cruise along scenic roads from San Francisco to
Healdsburg in a two-day fundraising effort. Dry
Creek Vineyard is the official wine sponsor.
